Welcome to JFW Healing

The meaning of JFW Healing

JFW Healing stands for Just for the Wounded - Healing. I was inspired by the term "wounded healer" which is originated from psychologist Carl Jung whose concept is that the psychoanalysts/ psychotherapists  themselves have had psychologically wounding experiences. I myself very much relate to this idea. Therefore, I chose to embrace and emphasise the word "wounded" in my practice as it is vital to address and acknowledge that many of us are just wounded humans. Sometimes, the internal wounds may seem small that we might not have noticed until we encounter bigger challenges later in life.

The process of psychotherapy/ counselling allows your emotional wounds to be seen and acknowledged. This is where the healing begins.

About Janet

I'm a trilingual (Cantonese, Mandarin, English) psychotherapist based in Bristol. Between 2013 and 2021, I practised as a psychologist in Hong Kong and I've had more than 10 years of counselling and psychotherapy experiences, specialising in sexuality, gender and relationship diversity issues, trauma and adults' mental health problems. Currently, I'm at a near completion stage of the Professional Doctorate training in Counselling Psychology.

Originally from Hong Kong, and growing up in the UK and Canada during my adolescence and young adulthood, I have acquired a strong awareness and openness to individual and cultural differences. Before I embarked on the journey in understanding human minds and behaviours, I had experienced a great deal of struggles in balancing between my own needs and the expectation of the wider society until I became fully aware of my urge in pursuing a fulfilling and meaningful role that reflects me.

In my practice, I place a strong focus on diversity and inclusion. I've had substantial experience in working with gender, sexual and relationship diverse community and neurodivergent people (mainly ADHD & autism). More recently, I've expanded my practice in working with minority ethic individuals and trauma survivors. I've gained a deeper understanding of the interconnections of various social identities within an individual. Also, I've had the opportunity to offer specialised therapeutic treatment to people who experience eating difficulties in the NHS outpatient community service in 2022-23. I'm also trained to practice eye movement desensitisation and reprocessing (EMDR)
therapy to treat a range of psychological difficulties.

If your concerns are associated with your cultural/ ethnic background, and the wider systems, I may be the right therapist for you. I have been offering online/ in-person counselling sessions to individuals from different parts of the World. These include Africa, France, Finland, Nigeria, Chile, Thailand, India, Korea, Japan, UAE, Singapore, Macau, Taiwan, and Mainland China.
